SINGLE TAIL PIECES
Each piece of this leather is unique and may vary slightly in shape, size and character. An average Large tail has more than 175 square inches of leather, including the distinct, popular scales. Tails include both back legs and are shaped like “batman” wings. The scale portion, depending on size, can range from 8” to 13” in length. Tails can be used in a wide variety of projects: Boots, shoes, sandals, holsters, knife sheaths, and in other new creative ways.
This leather is 100% legally obtained in the Eastern half of the U.S. from commercially caught common snapping turtles. They are harvested for meat by licensed fishermen during state-regulated seasons which ensures sustainability. The hides were being thrown away. This leather is a reclaimed by-product. It is chrome tanned in upstate New York. Help support the traditional lifestyles of the east coast Watermen.
